FDRsafety is seeking a Temporary EHS Manager to oversee a manufacturing facility in Memphis, TN. This position is anticipated to start immediately and will last approximately 6-12 months on a Monday-Friday day shift schedule for 40-50 hours/week plus occasional overtime. This individual will be responsible for providing toolbox talks, site walkthroughs, inspections, auditing, assisting, and advising management of their findings daily for a single site location. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and deliver timely and effective loss prevention initiatives, policies and educational training programs which proactively address current safety and/or security issues and ensure compliance to all regulatory and company Health, Safety policies, and Environmental procedures.
  • Develop and analysis of Health and Safety Metric. 
  • Develops Compliance calendar for Health and Safety Programs and Client Standards. 
  • Prepare, and maintain all records and reports required by the Company and OSHA regulatory agencies including the OSHA 300 log and injury records.  Perform trend analysis on information.
  • Work with Engineering to provide input during the planning and execution of engineering and new technology applications to ensure that related safeguards are incorporated which meet all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee and revises Incident investigation program. 
  • Develops Hazard and injury prevention campaigns. 
  • Responsible for management of the Health and Safety Committee, Return to Work Committee and all other committees and/or process involved in health and safety.
  • Resource to all Managers, employees, union personnel, Workers’ Compensation, and government officials.
  • Promote hazard identification and make recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Identify and make recommendations based on assessments done by occupational hygienist.
  • May develop, train, and maintain an effective Emergency Response Team to ensure appropriate response in the event of an emergency incident.
  • Prepare and administer the Health and Safety budget.  Plan, monitor and control expenditures with emphasis on effective delivery at or below budgeted amounts.  Track all personal protective equipment purchases and authorize payment to suppliers.
  • Responsible for supporting the execution of relevant projects within Health and Safety standards.
  • Works with Maintenance and Facilities department develop programs and calendars for regulatory compliance on the upkeep of equipment and facilities.  
  • Responsible for supporting talent management process for hourly employees. Ensure Diversity and Inclusion meets / exceeded corporate standards. Proactively engage in the development and training of hourly labor and support such plans developed by plant leadership.
  • Maintain understanding of processes and functional interdependencies. Recognize and escalate, as needed, those issues identified as risks to, or opportunities to improve, plant performance.
  • Prepare, maintain, and as appropriate, submit all records and reports on insight platform. 
  • Adhere to and administer company policies and procedures.
  • Support in deployment of programs related to air, water, wastewater and solid/hazardous waste.
  • Update Health and Safety related programs.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Safety Management, or related field OR BCSP certification (ASP, CHST, or CSP) or similar certification preferred.
  • Candidates must have an OSHA 30 Hour Certification.
  • Candidates must have a  First-Aid/CPR/AED certificate. 
  • Candidates should have a minimum of 1-3+ years of manufacturing safety experience as a lead with the proven ability to identify workable solutions to eliminate hazards.
