Risk Control Consultant

Overview

Collier Insurance is seeking an experienced Risk Control Consultant to provide advisory and project-based services to our commercial insurance clients. This role focuses on improving client risk profiles, supporting loss prevention strategies, and enhancing overall safety and compliance programs.

Engagement Structure

  • Independent contractor
  • Approximately 20–25 hours per month
  • Flexible, project-based engagement

Core Responsibilities

Client Advisory & Risk Management

  • Consult with clients on safety culture development, including policies, procedures, safety committees, and accident investigations
  • Provide guidance on security procedures and best practices
  • Support clients in addressing OSHA requirements and regulatory compliance
  • Advise on fire and life safety standards

Program Development & Compliance

  • Assist in the development of emergency response procedures
  • Support implementation of safety systems and risk management frameworks
  • Provide insight on ADA, NFPA standards, and applicable building and safety codes
  • Offer guidance on general liability exposures and reasonable care practices

Insurance & Risk Analysis

  • Review and validate Experience Modification Ratings (EMR)
  • Assist in projecting and managing EMR trends
  • Support claims analysis and identify loss trends

Client & Carrier Coordination

  • Coordinate insurer inspections for property, auto, and liability lines
  • Attend inspections as a client representative when needed
  • Assist clients in responding to carrier recommendations and corrective actions

Problem Solving & Project Support

  • Help clients resolve complex or non-routine risk issues
  • Conduct research and provide practical solutions for emerging concerns
  • Assist with drafting or reviewing indemnity agreements for business relationships

The role reports to the Director of HSE/SA and is located in Byhalia, MS. This highly visible role encompasses the contribution to improving Health, Safety and Environment performance and Corporate Responsibility
in the newly constructed Byhalia manufacturing center and surrounding TKE locations. Supporting the business by applying in-depth knowledge to offer solutions and advice through delivery of TKE-wide performance improvement programs and/or Audit Program.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Governance: Delivering and deploying HSE training, audit and TKE-Wide performance improvement programs to the Byhalia manufacturing center. Assure company compliance with all relevant Local, State, and Federal Occupational Health & Safety Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rules and regulations
  • Metrics: Champion development of strategy to achieve TKE HSE/Sustainability objectives. Providing analysis of/ reporting of key performance indicators (KPI) within area of responsibility.
  • Regulatory compliance: Contributing to assessing emerging trends and legislation in HSE and Sustainability. Communicates relevant information on legal requirements within area of expertise and
    geography.
  • Risk management: Delivering compliance audit (as per TKE Audit Program) and supporting follow-ups of improvement actions.
  • Communication and engagement: Leading across functions and with business partners to raise awareness and drive performance, engages with internal and external stakeholders to build commitment and credibility for the HSE organization.
  • Operational support: Contributing to driving behavioral change and continuous improvement through delivery of training and competence initiatives. Provide expert support with yearly HSE planning and execution. Supporting the sharing of best practice. Coordinating reporting on HSE performance in SAFETKE and supporting delivery of TKE audit program.
  • Project management: Contributing to and/or plans and executes Health, Safety and Environment performance and Corporate Responsibility related projects. Developing and reporting on project objectives. Managing project resources such as manpower, financials and other relevant factors.
  • A proven ability to implement innovative and sustainable cultural change
  • Ability to coach and influence all levels of the organization as well as contract partners
  • Flexible to work across 3 shifts and overtime as needed
  • Ability to prioritize work, effectively handle multiple tasks, and possess sound reasoning and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal/written)
  • Safety and environmental certifications a plus
  • Strong computer and presentation skills

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Science or a related discipline
  • Min 5 years demonstrated EHS experience in a manufacturing environment
  • CSP/ASP, CIH or equivalent, preferred
  • Management of Change Practitioner, preferred

Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Administrator

Memphis, TN | On-site Manufacturing Environment | Up to $90K

A well-established manufacturing company in Memphis is seeking a Safety & Environmental Administrator to lead safety and environmental initiatives at its manufacturing facility.

This is a highly visible, hands-on position for an EHS professional who enjoys being out on the manufacturing floor, working directly with employees and leadership, identifying risks, and driving a strong culture of safety and accountability.

We are open to an emerging/junior EHS professional who is ready to take the next step in their career. This does not have to be someone who has already held an EHS Manager title.

The biggest need is someone who has a solid foundation in environmental compliance and ISO 14001 and is ready to take ownership of those areas.

The position also includes OSHA/safety compliance, training, corrective actions, incident prevention, regulatory recordkeeping, and working directly with manufacturing leadership and employees.

  • Manufacturing or industrial EHS experience
  • Environmental compliance experience
  • ISO 14001 knowledge/experience and the desire to own the program
  • OSHA/safety knowledge
  • Initiative, accountability and the confidence to work directly with Operations
  • Someone who wants to grow into greater EHS leadership responsibility

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered
  • Progressive EHS/safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards
  • Experience with environmental compliance in an industrial setting
  • Demonstrated ability to lead safety initiatives and influence employees and management
  • Comfortable addressing non-compliance and holding others accountable to established safety standards
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build credibility on the manufacturing floor
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and regulatory recordkeeping skills
  • Experience with ISO 14001 / Environmental Management Systems strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word

We’re looking for someone who can balance the technical, administrative, and leadership sides of EHS. You’ll need to be comfortable managing regulatory documentation and maintaining policies, but equally comfortable walking the plant floor, engaging employees, coaching supervisors, addressing unsafe conditions, and leading safety improvements.
